CDF Newsletter: May 2021

Dear Colleagues of the Crafting Democratic Futures Initiative,

Thank you all for a fantastic Convening of All Teams on May 17, 2021! We’re encouraged by the progress made since December 2020. And, it was inspiring to listen to each team highlight their community-based approach to addressing a variety of issues. These issues ranged from redlining, segregation, the intergenerational trauma caused by the history of Indian boarding schools, income and wealth disparities, and more. Important work indeed!

It was also a pleasure meeting new team members, including Community Fellows, Graduate Students, Faculty Research Leads, and others during the monthly teams meetings we launched early May. Since our goal is to mobilize and leverage the Crafting Democratic Futures national network, we may use our meeting time to strategically connect members across teams in the future.

Thank you / Gracias / Miigwech for your time, energy, and commitment. We are motivated by the work each team is doing around repairing harm and promoting healing in communities across the country.
It is an honor to work alongside you all.

Wishing you the best always,

Earl Lewis, CSS Just Futures Principal Investigator
