Professor of Development and Ethnic and Diversity Studies
Carla A. Young is a Professor of Development and Ethnic and Diversity Studies at the Community College of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, PA. She received both her BS and Master of Education degrees from Clarion University in Clarion, PA. At CCAC, she teaches in several distinct but interrelated subject areas: Developmental Studies/Communication Arts; Ethnic and Diversity Studies; and Developmental Services. Carla’s teaching includes a community-based course, Introduction to Black Women and Leadership, at CCAC’s Homewood-Brushton Center. She is also a resident and activist in the community of Beltzhoover on Pittsburgh’s South Side. Her volunteer activities include work with the Children’s Sickle Cell Foundation; the Carson Senior Apartments; and the August Wilson Center.
