Writer, Researcher, and Curator of local African American History
Patricia Pugh Mitchell received MA degrees in both History and English at the University of Pittsburgh. She is an experienced public school teacher as well as curator of both historical and contemporary exhibits in area art and cultural museums. Her projects include the well-received Pittsburgh Rhythms Exhibit highlighting Pittsburgh jazz artists. She also brings to the Democratic Futures project over 15 years of community outreach, research, and youth and adult public programming experience in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. She has published a bi-monthly newsletter highlighting visual and performance artists in Western Pennsylvania titled Kuumba Trust News and edited a monthly Family and Community Engagement (FACE) newsletter for the Pittsburgh Middle School Sterrett Classical Academy.
